COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 first emerged in China in Dec 2019. The disease has spread to countries around the globe and caused an ongoing pandemic. In today’s  presentation, we will talk about the use of RT-PCR assays & other testing modalities for detecting COVID-19 patients. We will discuss various technical aspects and current challenges of using this laboratory approach to detect SARS-CoV-2. References to recent peer-reviewed literature in the area will be provided. Early and timely monitoring of the predictive indicators may also increase the efficiency of treatment and improve the prognosis.

Post this talk, there is would be live Panel Discussion to discuss and take live questions from the Audience on the Diagnostic & Clinical Aspects of Covid 19.  The Panel discussion will also help to pave way for the new Horizon or the new normal for any Laboratory / sample Collection Centre or other Health care Facility.

Dr Sonal has special interests in Antimicrobial susceptibility testing, practical implementation of technology for Antimicrobial resistance, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Bacteriology and infectious diseases and Medical education. She has WHO fellowship in  “Antimicrobial resistance” at ICHAR, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. She is the Joint Secretary, Indian Association of Medical Microbiology and Member of Technical Committee on AMR, Delhi Govt as well as WHO task force committee on formulation and implementation of National Action Plan on AMR. She has various Research and Publications with 5 Books & Chapters , 43  Articles and 197  Citations.

Professor, Dept of Anesthesiology & Intensive care, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi

Dr Bharti is the Editor of Monthly Bulletin Of ISA Delhi Chapter, Executive Member: ISA Delhi Chapter, Committee member for setting up of minimum standards for the Clinical Establishment Act, MOHFW, Government of India and Member Expert  Specialist Board of Anesthesiology , National Board of Examinations. Her Areas Of Expertise is Obstetric Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Pediatric Anaesthesia. She is the Faculty and Resource Person for the E-Learning Programme, Elsevier, India. She has contributed chapters for Post Graduate books on Obstetrics, Pediatrics & ophthalmology. She is Editor of ‘Changing Trends in Obstetric Anaesthesia,’ a book on the recent developments in the field of obstetric anaesthesia, Editor for the monthly news bulletin of ISA Delhi branch, 2010-11. She is also the examiner for Delhi university, National Board Of Examinations, Rajasthan University, Pt B D Sharma University of Medial Sciences  and BFUHS

Speaker: Dr. Seema Tyagi
Professor and laboratory in charge, Department of Hematology, AIIMS, New Delhi

Dr Tyagi is an expert in Hematology and Hematopathology – including leukemia,  thalassemia and coagulation disorders. She has 25 years of experience  post her  MD and for last 20 years she has been a faculty in department of Hematology, AIIMS. Currently she is Professor  and in charge of laboratory Hematology AIIMS, New Delhi. She has more than 100 publications in various International and National  scientific journal including  20 Chapters in text books.She is also the Chief investigator  for around 30 MD/DM Thesis and 3 Principal Project as Investigator . She has organized several workshops and conference on Flowcytometry,  thrombophilia and quality control in Hemogram. She was the Professor In charge of   ISHTM-AIIMS EQAP and has travel grant award by  Laboratory Hematology, Singapore
